Isaiah 54:10

This week I want to share my favorite Bible verse. It comes from Isaish 54:10…“For the mountains may crumble and the hills be removed but my steadfast love shall not depart from you and my covenant of peace shall not be removed”, say the Lord, who has compassion on you.

A year or so before Mark was diagnosed with his brain tumor, we were at Suncadia Resort, in Cle Elm, Washington. We were there with my parents for a week with the organization we worked with at the time. It was beyond beautiful and our place was in a wooded area with a fire pit and the weather was perfect. We hiked, well, I didn’t as much hike as Mark did but I tagged along, very slowly. We did walk down and up an outside staircase that was over 100 steps, one way. Yes, it did take me a bit to do it but I did it and I can gladly say I will never do that again! It was a great week.

I remember leaving dinner one night and like most resorts, there was some great shopping. There were large pictures of the mountains with verses and sayings. One of the pictures was a beautiful mountain scene with the verse Isaiah 54:10. Growing up a pastor’s kid you memorize and know a lot of Bible verses. You may not know the references of them all but you know they are there. However, I had never heard this verse. How had I missed it? I don’t know but it was there for me now. It quickly became my favorite verse. It was perfect for what I was about to face less that a couple of years later. Once Mark was diagnosed, I thought back on this verse and knew that at that moment the Lord has allowed it to be revealed to me. I knew that no matter what I was going face, the Lord’s steadfast love would NOT depart from me. His covenant of peace would be there but what I really liked was the end. It says, the Lord who has compassion on you…me! I certainly needed His compassion in that moment.

What is your favorite verse? Why? I know through the years I have had different favorite verses and that is ok. As you face different trials, circumstances, life changes and such, verses mean different things at different times. I know some who have life verses and I think that is great. We always loved Jeremiah 29:11 for our family. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not evil to give you a future and a hope. Regardless of what your verse is, if it is for you or your family or when you found it, make sure you are meditating on it daily. I know I don’t always do a good job of that but I want to. The Lord has given it to me, for a reason, so I want to make sure I am always remembering it and why He gave it to me.

Confident in His love Isaiah 54:10 ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
